What happened: The United States announced that starting Tuesday it would blockade Iran’s entire coastline. All ships, regardless of whose flag they fly, will be subject to inspection. Oil prices then jumped to a one-month high, and Iran also said that in the Strait of Hormuz it “handled” several ships.
My take: When oil prices spike, risk-off sentiment kicks in—funds tend to pull back first. So having $BTC under short-term pressure is a normal reaction. Historically, sell-offs driven purely by news often see relatively fast repairs; but if this really escalates into a large-scale conflict, that’s a different storyline—this is something I’m watching closely, so I won’t jump to conclusions.
Next, I’ll mainly watch two signals: whether oil prices can hold steady, and how US stock markets perform at the open.
