THE MOST IMPORTANT BUTTON IN GRVT MEMBERSHIP MAY BE THE ONE THAT IS MISSING

I spent more time looking for the downgrade button in the new @grvt_io Membership Program than looking at the APY.

The tier table is easy to understand.

Lock 1, 5,000, 25,000 or 100,000 $GRVT for a minimum period ranging from one week to six months, and receive progressively better trading fees, staking yield and GLP access.

Moving up is simple.

A user can top up, reach the next tier and activate the higher benefits immediately. The lock period then resets to the duration of that new tier.

Moving down is not the reverse process.

GRVT allows only one active lock. There is no partial unlock and no early exit. To reduce a position, the user must unlock the entire stake, wait through a 7-day cooldown, then build a smaller position again. If capital is still inside GLP, that must be withdrawn first.

At first, I saw this as ordinary staking friction.

Then I realized the membership is pricing more than token amount and time.

It also prices the user’s ability to reduce exposure gradually.

This creates a more stable membership base. Fee tiers and GLP entitlements cannot disappear one slice at a time.

From the user’s side, the benefits are clear—but so is the tradeoff. Someone who only wants 30% of their tokens back cannot resize by 30%. They must temporarily unwind 100% of the membership position.

Even the minimum lock period is not an automatic exit date. Once it ends, the tier continues until the user actively chooses to unlock.

That makes post-TGE retention harder to interpret.

Are members staying because the fee discounts, APY and GLP access remain worth the opportunity cost?

Or does an all-or-nothing exit make reducing exposure inconvenient enough that some users simply stay?

The real test will not be how many people lock $GRVT during launch week.

It will be what they do when market conditions change and they want part of their liquidity back—not all.

The headline benefit may be the higher tier.

The more revealing design choice is the missing partial exit.
