Tether Under the Microscope: Has the Pace of Bitcoin Purchases Slowed?
Recent movements in Tether’s (Tether) Bitcoin reserve wallets have drawn the attention of the crypto community, after analysts noticed unusual transfers that prompted questions about whether the company changed its Bitcoin accumulation strategy during the second quarter of 2026.
Blockchain data shows the sending of about 4 BTC from the reserve address to the Binance platform in a transaction believed to be experimental. A prior transfer of more than 204 BTC to Bitfinex was also spotted about a month ago, with no official confirmation regarding whether these assets were sold or held.
What’s most striking is the absence of any new transfers to the Tether reserve address so far, despite more than ten days having passed since the end of Q2. Previously, the company would typically add its quarterly Bitcoin purchases by the end of each quarter.
So does this delay indicate a change in Tether’s strategy? Or is it simply a temporary postponement in disclosing purchases?
📊 What do you think? Do you expect Tether to keep increasing its Bitcoin reserves, or has its approach started to change? Share your thoughts in the comments.
