Cointelegraph news: In the final moments, New Hampshire canceled an innovative Bitcoin bond initiative that was expected to become the first credit-rated Bitcoin-backed bond issued by a state government. The New Hampshire Executive Council voted 3-2 to terminate the project, citing concerns about the state’s financial reputation. The bond would have been issued by the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority and would have supported private bonds associated with the Bitcoin mining and data center company Cleanspark, with an amount of up to $100 million. For years, crypto advocates and New Hampshire House Majority Leader Keith Ammon said on social media: “This is an extremely short-sighted decision; they should gather all relevant facts and information and reconsider their vote at a future meeting.” He also noted that election year is crucial for committee members—just one vote could change the outcome—and added, “We’re not going to give up.” New Hampshire is leading the way in establishing crypto policy. Last year, it became the first state to create a crypto reserve, far ahead of federal efforts that are still not complete.
