On June 26, ZachXBT published an alert: he checked AscendEX hot wallets via Arkham and TRM โ reserves are almost empty. Of the $20M on the wallets, most of it is illiquid tokens like UNITE and ASD. There is no proper ETH, USDT, or SOL.
Users have been complaining since June 10: withdrawals are stuck in the status โinitiatingโ with not a single txid. Support is silent, and the exchange has not made any public statements. Zak asked two simple questions โ why withdrawals arenโt going through and why the wallets are empty โ and added: โI donโt advise anyone to put money there.โ
The exchangeโs track record is rich: in 2021, Lazarus stole $78M from hot wallets; in May 2026, trading was urgently halted for stablecoins due to โnon-standard minting.โ And now this.
Empty reserves plus stuck withdrawals plus a support team that wonโt speak โ in crypto, this combination usually ends the same way. If thereโs money on the exchange, itโs time to think.
