The NEWT token is the lifeblood that powers the underlying operation of the Newton protocol. Its value-capture mechanism runs through the network’s four core modules, forming a complete economic closed loop:
· Network baseline security: Leveraging the dPoS mechanism, NEWT is the foundation for maintaining the ledger’s immutability. By staking NEWT, users become validator nodes or support existing nodes, directly strengthening the network’s defenses while earning system inflation rewards in proportion to their contributions.
· Operational resource consumption: As Rollup’s native fuel, NEWT measures every computation on-chain. Whether executing intentions or changing permissions, any state change must be settled with NEWT gas fees, effectively preventing network dust attacks.
· Service performance guarantees: In the agent market, NEWT plays the role of a “credit guarantee deposit.” Operators must stake tokens in advance to obtain service eligibility. Once the error-rate threshold is triggered or malicious behavior occurs, the system will automatically execute slashing to compel agent nodes to maintain high service quality.
· Long-term ecological governance: As the governance module gradually decentralizes, holdings become a quantifiable basis for voting power. Token holders can use on-chain proposals to intervene in protocol parameters and treasury allocations, ensuring that the project’s evolution direction remains aligned with the interests of early contributors.
