Is SOX going crazy?!!!Last night I discussed with a friend that if a pullback happens at night, we should retreat—but within just a dozen minutes, the semiconductor sector directly staged a massive plunge.
SOX fell more than 6% in a single day, and SOXL with 3x leverage dropped nearly 18% in sync, leaving many people stunned.
The main drivers behind the sell-off are basically just a few:
① Meta plans to sell idle AI computing power; the market thinks the logic that “computing power is always in short supply” has become less convincing
② The whole second quarter already rallied too much, and institutions are doing end-of-period settlement and cashing in
③ The Fed turned more hawkish, putting pressure on high-multiple tech stocks across the board
④ Storage rating downgrades further reduce expectations for downstream demand
In short, it was bad news hitting when prices were high, and sentiment was released all at once. Leveraged products move violently on both the way up and down—don’t overbet with a big position, don’t force it to hold on. If you don’t understand, stand aside for now and wait.
