Quit smoking for a month, but I relapsed—failure in the end. I realized that if the summary isn’t truly heartfelt, if you don’t genuinely think smoking is bad and don’t really want to quit, it won’t succeed. You’ll always find an opportunity to give yourself a reason to relapse. That day I was too tired and needed to get my spirits up, so I thought, “I’ll smoke one pack, just to perk myself up.” Then it became a second pack and a third. In reality, smoking doesn’t even really help me feel alert—it's no better than peppermint oil. It’s like trading with contracts: when you get liquidated, you first give yourself some reason. “I was drunk and forgot to set a stop-loss. Shouldn’t I have set the stop-loss when I shouldn’t have?” Then you give yourself another chance to start again. But I think quitting contracts is easier than quitting smoking. At the very least, I only trade spot. Yet I relapsed with cigarettes—TM. If you don’t truly believe that contracts are gambling, and you still think contracts are “technique,” then you’ll keep gambling.
