I've been thinking about a question lately—when the meme coin is skyrocketing, what are the fundamentals-focused players doing?

After looking at today’s market action, I think I get it. HYPE is at $67, up 9.8% in 24h, with a market cap close to $15 billion. This is a project that’s been rallying from $40 upward—it's not just fueled by shilling; it's supported by real revenue from protocol activity. Hyperliquid’s DEX trading volume has consistently ranked in the top tier. They actually have a real business.

KAS is also up 10% today, with a market cap of $830 million. Kaspa’s GHOSTDAG consensus mechanism is highly regarded in the tech community, and its ecosystem has been gradually growing too. While there still isn’t a standout “killer” dApp yet, the technical foundation is clearly there.

CHZ is up 10.7%, which is interesting. The fan-token leader hasn’t moved much in a long time. Could it be because the World Cup is coming soon? CHZ’s partnerships with several football clubs are still in place. If any World Cup-related news drops, it could act as a catalyst for a push.

SYN is up 43%, but its market cap is only $110 million, so it’s quite small. UB is up 42% with a $300 million market cap—also small. For these low-cap names, the fundamentals don’t look great right now—the turnover-to-market-cap ratio isn’t low, and short-term capital dominates.

The real “buy the fundamentals” money is watching projects like HYPE and KAS—ones with real technical barriers or actual revenue. Big rallies in small caps are mostly driven by speculative capital rotating in, not by fundamentals.

If HYPE can hold above $70, the next target is $80. If KAS can defend $0.03, at minimum this move can take us to $0.035.
