Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, denied on Monday the veracity of reports that said technical talks were held between Iran and the United States during the current week. He affirmed that Tehran has not held any such meetings so far, amid continued international interest in the future of communications between the two sides.

Gharibabadi said that Iran continues consultations with Qatar, noting that these consultations involve following up on the implementation of the other party’s commitments. However, he stressed that the circulating reports about holding direct talks with the United States in Doha cannot be confirmed, adding that what is being discussed in this regard is not based on any official announcement.
