Binance will suspend its services for customers in the European Union starting next week after the company withdrew its application for a license under the EU’s crypto rules.
This week, the exchange informed users in Poland, Italy, Spain and France by email.
What Binance told its EU customers
According to Euro News, Binance contacted its French customers. The message said that the French entity will no longer accept new users from now on and that, starting from 1.7.2026, it will end all services involving crypto assets in the country.
The company confirmed that similar notices were also sent to affected users in other EU countries.
The notices explain that Binance does not have a license for Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) by 30.6.2026. The exchange assures that customer funds will remain safe.

MiCA deadline as the background for the decision
MiCA entered into force in June 2023. The full licensing program began in December 2024 and opened a window for companies to obtain a national license.
This time window ends on 1.7.2026, after which the deadline rule will apply across the European Economic Area. After that, operating without a MiCA license will violate EU law.

Binance has applied to the Hellenic Capital Market Commission in Greece, but received no formal decision. This week, the application was withdrawn. However, Binance said it will try to obtain a license via another EU member state going forward.
“Europe is an important region for Binance, and our goal to work within a clear, fair and harmonized MiCA framework remains unchanged. We continue to support MiCA’s goal of creating a single set of rules for crypto-assets in the EU, and we are confident that in the coming months we will obtain authorization in another EU member state,” the exchange said.
Two people familiar with the process told Reuters that Binance also approached regulators in Ireland and Latvia, but met with resistance there. In the coming period, it will become clear which EU country Binance is aiming for next.
