US PCE: release this Thursday!
French time 2:30 pm
The Bureau of Economic Analysis will publish on Thursday, June 25 at 8:30 am (NY) the May PCE index, the Fed’s preferred inflation measure.
The FactSet consensus expects a headline PCE increase of 0.5% month-over-month, or 4.1% year-over-year — the highest level since 2023. Core PCE would rise by +0.37% over the month, steady at 3.3% year-over-year.
The surge is driven mainly by energy, amid tensions related to the conflict in Iran. Several economists, however, see this report as the peak of the year, with gasoline already having eased since mid-May.
A key figure for the Fed’s rate expectations.
