a16z co-founder Marc Andreessen's take on AI regulation isn't really about being "anti-regulation." It's more about opposing the idea of turning regulation into a moat for big companies.

His main point: If the rules are set by people who don’t understand the tech, and they squeeze startups through approval, compliance costs, and precautionary principles, innovation will be pushed out; but if regulation can prevent AI voice scams, deepfakes messing with elections, and harm to vulnerable groups while building market trust, then it's a necessary safety net.

This has implications for the crypto space as well: truly effective regulation should lower fraud and systemic risks, not raise the barriers to entry. Innovation needs room to breathe, and trust needs a framework.
