December has always been an important month for Bitcoin and safe-haven assets like gold and silver, especially because Christmas comes with a certain increase in volatility and investment. However, this year is different from any other, so what can we expect?
Among the historical records and the tone changes of the institutions, it is likely that December 2025 will reshuffle the cards for the three main safe-haven assets.
Gold is very stable
The price of gold is trading around $4,200, after touching a peak close to $4,265. This price is driven by the weakening of the dollar, with the DXY index falling near 99, and markets anticipating an 87% probability of a Fed rate cut in December.
Despite a prolonged contraction in the U.S. manufacturing sector, gold is benefiting from flows into safe-haven assets linked to geopolitical risks (particularly tensions surrounding Russia, Ukraine, and Venezuela), as well as ongoing purchases by central banks.
From a technical perspective, gold is consolidating near its support at $4,200 and could target $4,300 if it breaks its immediate resistances.
Silver is in full swing
Silver has experienced exceptional growth, more than doubling in 2025 to reach a historic high of $58.83 before a slight correction. This performance vastly outstrips the 60% increase recorded by gold during the same period.
This rally is supported by significant supply constraints, with inventories in London and Shanghai at historically low levels and high financing costs in the metal markets. Industrial demand, particularly in the electronics and solar energy sectors, also drives this bullish momentum.
What's next? The metal is trading within an upward channel, confirmed by indicators such as the RSI and moving averages, with key support levels to watch around $56.55 and $54.35, and upcoming resistance levels around $60.05 and $62.75. If silver breaks these levels, it could experience another historic rally!
Bitcoin looks gloomy
The price of Bitcoin has experienced a significant reversal, falling more than 17% in November, which has tested its psychological support level around $80,000.
Historically, December has been a month of mixed performance for Bitcoin, with a positive average but a low median and several negative years in the previous four.
The market is characterized by significant net outflows from Bitcoin ETFs, reflecting ongoing institutional caution. In other words, the leading cryptocurrency is far from enjoying the same enthusiasm as precious metals.
From a technical perspective, BTC has broken a bearish pattern, raising the risk of a further drop towards $66,800, although fragile support levels around $80,400 remain.
On-chain indicators suggest that whales are preparing to sell, which is hindering recovery despite expectations related to medium-term interest rate cuts.
