CZ (Changpeng Zhao)
Former Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, is a serial entrepreneur with a proven track record of successful startups. He founded Binance in July 2017 and, within 180 days, succeeded in turning it into the world’s largest digital asset platform by trading volume. As an expert in the blockchain sector, CZ built Binance to become a leading blockchain ecosystem providing a variety of services, including a trading platform, Binance Labs, Binance Launchpad, Binance Academy, Binance Research, Trust Wallet, the Binance Charity Foundation, as well as an NFT token platform, and many more. Notably, CZ spent his youth working in burger restaurants before enrolling at McGill University in Montreal. In 2005, CZ resigned as President of Bloomberg Tradebook Futures Research & Development and moved to Shanghai to begin working at Fusion Systems. Shortly after that, he learned about Bitcoin and joined Blockchain.com as Chief Technology Officer.

Yi He
Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer
Leads (Yi He) the business strategy, business development, marketing, and branding for Binance. She was the commercial strategist who helped make Binance the world’s largest cryptocurrency trading platform—playing a pivotal role in the company’s transformation from a cryptocurrency trading platform into a global blockchain ecosystem. Before co-founding Binance, Yi served as Vice President of Yixia Technology, a leading mobile video technology company, which launched popular applications such as Miaopai, Xiaokaxiu, and Yizhibo, where she led the company’s branding strategy and marketing operations. She also played a key role in the fundraising strategy that helped value the company at over USD 3 billion. In addition, Yi was the co-founder of the digital asset trading platform OKCoin between 2014 and 2015. Yi is known as one of the most influential blockchain entrepreneurs and helped drive the appointment of women into executive roles in male-dominated technology sectors, increasing market confidence in female leadership.

Gabriel Abed
Chairman of the Board (Independent Board Member)
Gabriel Abed is a globally renowned technology entrepreneur, an experienced board member, and a former diplomat specializing at the intersection of regulatory innovation and financial technologies. He has more than 13 years of experience in the blockchain sector and has successfully led complex financial situations within regulated environments across multiple countries and industries. Mr. Abed launched the first Barbados embassy in the Middle East, serving as its ambassador in the United Arab Emirates and as a non-resident ambassador in Kuwait.
In 2013, Mr. Abed was the founding CEO of Bitt, the leading company that launched one of the world’s first central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). In 2016, he co-founded Digital Asset Capital Management (DACM), a hedge fund that quickly became the top performer in its category. Today, Mr. Abed is still considered a leading figure in matters of digital economy, regulation, and blockchain technologies.
In April 2018, Mr. Abed was appointed as the Special Technological Advisor to His Excellency David Burt of Bermuda. In 2020, he took on a leadership role in the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on the Regulatory Framework for Digital Currencies. He was also a board member of the Barbados Stock Exchange and the ANSA Bank (Trinidad). Mr. Abed serves as an honorary member of the Subcommittee of the Barbados Financial Services Committee concerned with financial technology.
Mr. Abed graduated with honors from Ontario Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, specializing in Network Security. Due to his contributions to blockchain technology and regulation, Mr. Abed was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Law from the University of the West Indies.
As Chairman of the Board of Binance, Mr. Abed continues to uphold his commitment to building multifaceted relationships with governments, governance, technology, and regulations.

Shen Wang is a lawyer qualified in the U.S. state of California and a lawyer in England and Wales, with extensive experience in lending, acquisitions, project financing, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Mr. Wang serves as an independent board member on the board of Binance.
