Big institutions are currently holding about 18.5% of the total 21 million BTC (around 3.88 million BTC).
The breakdown includes:
• ETFs: 6.3% (1.32M BTC) — led by BlackRock IBIT
• Public Companies: 5.9% (1.24M BTC) — MicroStrategy alone holds 4.0%
• Governments: 3.1% (650K BTC)
• Other Institutions: 1.8%
Meanwhile, the remaining 81.5% is held by retail investors, whales, and long-term holders.
