This method is suitable for laundering thousands, but not hundreds of millions of dollars. Blockchain transactions are public, and these "geniuses" overlooked two things:
Public Spending: They immediately began spending millions on private jets, yachts, and expensive cars, making their movements and purchases easily traceable.
Ease of Tracking: It was this ridiculous method of laundering that allowed blockchain detective amateur ZachXBT to trace the stolen crypto from the victim's wallet to their accounts.

1. How Were They Caught?
Detective ZachXBT, analyzing public blockchain data and matching it with photos of the hackers' luxurious purchases on social media, was able to identify one of the main figures — Vira Chetal.
His "genius" plan of laundering through Minecraft and expensive spending allowed law enforcement, based on ZachXBT's data, to quickly track down the entire group and make arrests.
2. Timelines and Charges
The thirst for quick luxury and absurd money laundering schemes resulted in very serious consequences for the hackers:
Charges: The main figures have been charged with money laundering and conspiracy to commit fraud.
Timeline: For each of these charges, they face up to 20 years in prison.

Blockchain is not anonymous, but transparent. Spending is easy to track.
