Lawsuit Demands Tether to Release $344 Million in Frozen Assets
Attorney Charles Gerstin filed a lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan on Thursday, seeking to compel Tether to release the sum of 344,149,759 USDT, which is roughly equivalent to $344 million. These funds are currently frozen in two Tron wallet addresses, classified by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The plaintiffs are urging the Southern District Court of New York to mandate Tether to clear the restricted wallets and reissue an equivalent amount of USDT into a wallet under their legal representatives' control. This move marks a direct expansion of the legal disputes led by Gerstin, which previously targeted funds frozen in the Arbitrum case linked to North Korea, in addition to separate claims against Railgun DAO.
