According to a report by Crypto.News, as of the week ending May 15, Bitcoin ETFs saw a net outflow of $1 billion, marking the end of six weeks of inflows. This is the largest single-week redemption since the end of January, coinciding with Bitcoin's price nearing $79,000 due to soaring treasury yields and inflation data exceeding expectations. This outflow ends the longest inflow cycle since July 2025, which attracted a total of $3.4 billion over six weeks, averaging $568 million weekly. The inflow for April alone reached $1.97 billion, the strongest monthly inflow for 2026. On May 15, all 11 Bitcoin ETFs experienced outflows, totaling $290.42 million in a single day. Ethereum ETFs also saw an outflow of $255.11 million that same week, further intensifying market caution. Since the launch of the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF in January 2024, the cumulative net inflow has been approximately $58.34 billion, with total assets under management at $104.29 billion. Surveys show that 86% of institutional allocators and wealth managers expect future ETF inflows to increase, suggesting that this outflow may reflect short-term market positioning rather than a structural shift in demand.
