According to Decrypt, a user named Cprkrn posted that Claude AI from Anthropic helped him recover a Bitcoin wallet that had been dormant for nearly 9 years, holding 5 BTC (worth about $400,000). On-chain data shows that the related address hadn't moved any funds since 2015 until it became active again recently. Cprkrn mentioned that previous attempts to recover the wallet using tools like btcrecover and Hashcat were unsuccessful. However, after uploading files from an old computer to Claude, the AI helped him identify old wallet files related to the mnemonic phrases in his notebook, ultimately leading to a successful recovery. Wallet recovery experts noted that Claude assists users in analyzing, filtering, and matching clues within a vast amount of historical files, which is part of an AI-assisted forensic and password recovery process, rather than breaking Bitcoin's underlying cryptography.
