Electric car maker Tesla (TSLA) saw no change in its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings in the fourth quarter of 2023, CoinDesk reported. Bitcoin was not mentioned in the latest quarterly report released on Wednesday, meaning the company did not buy or sell any Bitcoin in the three months ending in September. Tesla's Bitcoin holdings are worth $387 million at current prices. Tesla holds more than 9,720 BTC, making it the third-largest public holder after software company MicroStrategy (MSTR) and mining company Marathon (MARA), according to data tracked by Bitcoin Treasuries. In February 2021, Tesla, led by Elon Musk, invested $1.5 billion to buy about 43,000 Bitcoins. In the same month, Tesla said it would start accepting Bitcoin as a payment method. However, later in 2021, Tesla began selling its Bitcoin holdings to maximize its cash position amid uncertainty related to the COVID-19 lockdown. In the second quarter of 2022, Tesla reported that it had sold 75% of its Bitcoin holdings.
