Last week, I ran into an old classmate, and I found out that there are indeed folks in the crypto space who can gradually get rich.

A few years ago, he only had a small amount in his account, but now he's built up a decent portfolio.

The craziest part is that all these years, he never touched high leverage, didn't chase news, and steered clear of those meme coins that double in a day and crash to zero the next.

I asked him how he made his money.

He simply replied, "I only trade what I understand; the rest of my funds, I let others handle."

After chatting all night, I realized he was strictly adhering to a few simple rules.

First, when there's a sharp rise followed by a slow decline, don’t panic.

That’s likely not a top; it’s the big players washing out the weak hands. The real danger is a sudden crash that you can’t recover from. In that case, even the slowest exit can leave you buried.

Second, high volume at a peak doesn’t necessarily mean it’s over; what you should really fear is when the price hits a high and the volume starts to dwindle. If no one’s buying, the big players are about to exit too.

Third, don’t get too excited over a single candlestick. True trends aren’t born from one day’s movements; they are built over several days or even weeks, with capital gradually accumulating.

He said something that stuck with me: "Stop always thinking about making the quickest bucks. In the crypto world, most people don’t lose to the market; they lose because they’re too impatient."

Eventually, I got it.

The truly savvy traders aren’t the ones glued to their screens or constantly swapping coins; they’re the ones who can stay in cash, wait, and focus on making the safest trades.

I’m not here to boast about overnight riches; I firmly believe in this principle:

Survive, and the money will gradually find its way into your pocket.
