Ord.io & Zap Shutdown
Ord.io, the leading browser for Bitcoin Ordinals, and the trading app Zap will be shutting down on June 1, 2026. Co-founder Leonidas King stated on X: "In the end we ran out of money and don't see a path forward." Co-founder Zach Meyer also confirmed the wind-down.
Ord.io started in 2023 as an explorer for Bitcoin inscriptions with community features like upvotes. The platform then evolved by adding tools like Satributes (for rare satoshis) and Block Vision (real-time data for Runes minting), successfully attracting over 1 million users.
Ironically, in April 2024, Ord.io had closed a pre-seed funding round of $2 million led by Bitcoin Frontier Fund and Sora Ventures - but apparently, it wasn't enough to sustain long-term.
