As reported by The Block, Aave LLC filed an emergency motion seeking to vacate a May 1 federal court order that froze approximately $73 million in ether — 30,766 ETH intercepted by Arbitrum DAO following the April 18 Kelp DAO exploit. The freeze was sought by plaintiffs holding terrorism judgments against North Korea, who allege the attack was carried out by Lazarus Group, a claim Aave said remains unproven. Founder Stani Kulechov argued the funds belong to victims, not any alleged perpetrator, stating "a thief does not own what he steals." Aave is requesting the court either lift the freeze or compel plaintiffs to post a $300 million bond. The broader DeFi United recovery effort has since raised over 137,700 ETH worth nearly $327 million.
