Odaily Planet Daily reports that Admiral Samuel Paparo, the commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, stated during a hearing with the U.S. House Armed Services Committee that the U.S. government is currently running a node on the Bitcoin network for cybersecurity-related testing. Samuel Paparo pointed out that the U.S. military is not engaged in Bitcoin mining but is using this node to monitor and conduct various operational tests, leveraging the Bitcoin protocol to enhance network security. He emphasized that the military's interest in Bitcoin lies in its value as a tool of computer science related to cryptography, blockchain, and reusable proof of work, rather than as a reserve asset. Additionally, Samuel Paparo mentioned that stablecoin legislation could help maintain the dollar's dominance globally.
