🏦 HSBC has just completed a pilot tokenized deposit on the Canton Network, this is bigger than it seems

The largest bank in Europe has successfully tested the tokenization of deposits on the Canton Network, a blockchain network designed for financial institutions of Digital Asset.

What I find noteworthy about this pilot:
→ Covering the entire process: issuing token deposits, transferring between parties, and atomic settlement with digital assets
→ Atomic settlement means money and assets change hands simultaneously, eliminating the counterparty risk of T+2
→ HSBC is no novice; they already have HSBC Orion for bond tokenization, and now adding deposits is almost a complete set

Canton Network is gathering a formidable lineup of institutions like Goldman Sachs, BNY Mellon, Deloitte, operating in a privacy mode where each party only sees its own data.

📊 Market assessment:
→ TradFi is gradually transitioning from experimentation to real implementation, tokenized deposits are the final piece for on-chain settlement to operate
→ This is a positive long-term signal for RWA infrastructure, Chainlink CCIP, and Layer 1s targeting institutions
→ Traditional stablecoins may face competition when banks issue their own tokenized deposits

💡 I am watching to see if HSBC expands this pilot to real corporate clients, that will be the moment institutional money starts flowing into on-chain infrastructure. Do you think tokenized deposits can replace stablecoins?
