Today I am @MidnightNetwork $NIGHT I am trying to explain an interesting model that is being built between Cardano and others. Many times, the question arises in blockchain networks about how to maintain new network security and where to find reliable validators. Midnight addresses this problem by including Cardano's Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) as its block producers.
Let's understand this with a simple example. Suppose a new city is being established. If the responsibility for the security of that city is given to completely new and unknown people, it may be difficult to build trust. However, if the security of that city is entrusted to people who are already managing a successful and secure city, trust automatically increases. The Midnight Network does something similar.
@MidnightNetwork The responsibility for block production can be given to those Cardano SPOs who are already working to secure the Cardano network. When the Midnight mainnet becomes fully active, any SPO wanting to produce blocks on Midnight will need to register through a unique smart contract on Cardano. This smart contract manages the Midnight block production candidate pool and also tracks the $NIGHT token rewards.
The most interesting part of this model is that participating in Midnight does not affect the existing role of SPOs on Cardano. They can continue validating blocks on Cardano and will also continue to receive ADA rewards. This means that the same infrastructure and expertise can be utilized across both networks. This gives Midnight experienced validators from the start, strengthening the security and stability of the network.
This arrangement is also quite secure for delegators. The delegated ADA by them does not need to be moved anywhere and remains under their control on the Cardano network. SPOs are chosen as Midnight block producers based on the proportion of their delegated ADA stake, ensuring both participation and fairness.
When Midnight becomes fully operational, NIGHT block rewards will be issued to the designated addresses of block producers on the Midnight network. This way, participants contributing to the network receive direct incentives.
In my opinion, Midnight's model is a very practical solution. It addresses the security issues of the new network and builds a strong and reliable infrastructure by leveraging the existing strengths of the Cardano ecosystem.
