NIGHT just hit the Binance spot! But today I don't want to just say "wow, it's on Binance," I want to directly tell you why it’s unlikely to be kicked off like Monero.
One of the hottest news this week: $NIGHT officially landed on Binance on March 11, and you can trade NIGHT/USDT directly now. Many people have messaged me asking, "What's the difference from Monero? Is it worth chasing?"
Let's review Monero's tragedy — it was directly delisted by Binance in February 2024, and the reason is super simple: it was too anonymous, and the exchange couldn't comply with KYC/AML regulations; when regulators blinked, the exchange got scared and pulled the plug.
But the gameplay of @MidnightNetwork is completely different. It uses zero-knowledge proof (ZK) technology, but the point isn’t "no one can see it," rather it's "only the people who should see it can see it" — normally when you transfer on-chain or play dApps, outsiders can’t see or find anything; but if regulators really come knocking to check, you can generate a ZK proof for them, and others still can’t see anything. This approach is much smarter.
This difference directly determines whether it can stay safely on exchanges. Like Google Cloud and MoneyGram just jumped in last month as mainnet nodes, Binance's decision to list $NIGHT also proves this logic: a compliant, verifiable privacy chain is fundamentally different from a "completely black box" privacy coin.
Additionally, $NIGHT itself will not be used to pay gas fees. Holding it will continuously produce something called DUST, and all on-chain transaction fees are paid with DUST (like phone battery, it will slowly recharge itself when used). So you don’t have to worry about constantly selling coins to pay fees; holding coins gives you "traffic" to use.
I am currently observing calmly; the mainnet is expected to launch at the end of March, and only when the on-chain data comes out will it really count. Overall, it seems that this path is much more stable than Monero.
