«The situation in Iran is a central element of the current international landscape. China’s stance on this issue is objective and impartial. Our principled position can be summed up in one key message: to achieve a ceasefire and the cessation of all military operations,» Van said.

In his words, the war in the Middle East benefits no one and should not have happened.

«The history of the Middle East again and again tells the world that force does not provide solutions, and that armed conflict only intensifies hatred and creates new crises. China once again calls for the immediate cessation of military operations in order to avoid a spiral of escalation and prevent the conflict from spreading.»

In the minister’s view, to address issues related to Iran and the Middle East in general, it is necessary to adhere to five principles, including respect for national sovereignty, refusal to abuse force, non-interference in internal affairs, promoting political settlement, and a constructive role of the world’s leading countries.

«As a sincere friend and strategic partner, China is ready to cooperate with the countries of the Middle East to restore peace in the region, restore calm among people, and restore peace in the world as a whole,» Van Yi said.

China rejects double standards in its approach to Russia’s war against Ukraine and the crisis in Iran and states that in all international armed conflicts it supports the protection of civilians and resolving differences through negotiations.
