#伊朗新领袖 Mojtabā Khamenei became Iran's new Supreme Leader amid the flames of war

Tehran news: On March 9, in the backdrop of the crisis caused by the joint US-Israeli airstrikes that resulted in the death of the former Supreme Leader Khamenei, the Iranian Expert Assembly urgently elected his second son Mojtabā Khamenei as the third Supreme Leader of Iran.

The 56-year-old Mojtabā has long been behind the scenes of power, possessing both experience in the Revolutionary Guard and a seminary background, closely related to the core figures of the "Axis of Resistance," and is seen as an important political assistant to his father. This appointment was completed amid the Israeli "assassination threat" and the public opposition from US President Trump.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard and President Pezeshkian swiftly pledged allegiance, stating that this move marks "a new phase of the revolution." However, controversies surrounding the "theocratic hereditary succession" have emerged, as the US and Israel threaten not to recognize it. Iran, under Mojtabā's leadership, is facing the most severe security crisis since its founding, with his primary task being to lead the nation to survive in wartime.
