The Brazilian economy has shown new signs of deceleration, with a 0.1% increase in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in the third quarter of this year, compared to the second quarter, according to new data released by IBGE this Thursday (4/12).
In relation to the same quarter of 2024, GDP increased by 1.8%, with growth led by agriculture (up 10.1%), industry (1.7%), and services (1.3%). In the accumulated data for 2025, GDP grew by 2.4% compared to the same period in 2024.
The data from the last quarter — growth of 0.1% — indicates that most of the growth of the Brazilian economy this year occurred in the first half. At the current moment, the economy is at a slower pace.
This slowdown in Brazil is more pronounced when compared to other developing countries.
China grew at an annualized rate of 4.8% this year; India is growing at 8.2%.
