Countries are seeking to create a broad coalition for a swift and diplomatic end to the conflict to prevent regional escalation and a prolonged price shock on energy resources
The United Arab Emirates and Qatar are privately appealing to allies to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump to choose a path that will limit U.S. military operations against Iran and avoid a prolonged conflict. This was reported by Bloomberg, informs 'Glavkom'.
It is reported that countries are seeking to form a broad coalition to achieve a swift diplomatic resolution to the conflict. All to prevent regional escalation and a prolonged shock to energy markets.
'Qatar halted production of liquefied natural gas at the world's largest export facility after it became a target of an Iranian drone attack, leading to a price increase of more than 50% for gas in Europe,' the report states.
Analysts believe that if shipping routes in the region remain blocked until the middle of the week, it could trigger a significantly stronger market reaction.
At the same time, the Emirates and Qatar are privately working on rapidly improving their air defense capabilities.
As the publication notes, the Emirates have reached out to their allies for assistance in the area of medium-range air defense, while Qatar has requested help in countering drone attacks, which have become a greater threat than ballistic missiles, sources added.
'The stock of Patriot interceptors in Qatar will last for four days at the current rate of usage,' analysts of the publication add.
I remind you, the President of the United States did not categorically rule out the possibility of introducing American troops directly into Iranian territory. Trump stated that the U.S. has 'not even started yet' and a big wave of attacks is still ahead. He also added that he was most surprised by Iran's strikes on the countries of the Persian Gulf – Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
