BlackRock wants to tokenize ETFs – a major boost for Ethereum and the crypto market

BlackRock – the largest asset management firm in the world – is preparing to tokenize ETFs and real-world assets (RWA), according to #Bloomberg . If approved by regulators, this will be a significant turning point bringing traditional assets onto the blockchain at an unprecedented scale.

Previously, #BlackRock⁩ launched the BUIDL product with Securitize in 2024, allowing institutional investors to access U.S. government bonds in token form. This time, they want to expand into stock ETFs, bonds, real estate, money market funds, and private credit – markets worth up to $12.5 trillion.

Experts believe that tokenization will bring many benefits: 24/7 trading, faster payments, easy integration into DeFi, and especially a strong indication that crypto has become an essential part of the financial system. With BUIDL running on Ethereum, $ETH is expected to be the “biggest beneficiary” if BlackRock implements this plan.

This does not mean that capital will flow into all altcoins, but stablecoins and DeFi will certainly benefit. Once BlackRock succeeds, many other major financial institutions will follow suit.
