ListaDAO recently launched Lista Credit, a purely unsecured lending service, accessible only through the Binance Web3 non-custodial wallet (MPC).
I tried connecting: my wallet could actually borrow 50U! But the interest is ridiculously high—after 14 days I have to repay 57.5U, with an annualized rate of 390%! This isn't borrowing money, it's usury 2.0, guys 🤯
I guess their product logic is something like this (purely personal speculation, don't take it as investment advice):
MPC wallet = real person KYC anchored
Binance's non-custodial wallet uses MPC technology, shard keys + cloud backup, which can basically map to the real user identity. Running away? Theoretically, they can track you down (at least the address is blacklisted).
On-chain behavior profile = credit score.
Evaluate your history: how many Binance deposit events you participated in, how much interest/LISTA rewards you've earned in ListaDAO, overall activity… the better your behavior, the higher your limit.
Here I am, just a regular farmer raking in some small interest daily, and I can borrow 50U—does that count as a reward for not running away? Haha.
But the eternal pain point of credit loans: why should I pay back money borrowed based on my ability?
Lista Credit's two main strategies:
High-interest loan model: a 15% fee per transaction (no interest, but equivalent to a high fee). Assuming 6 people borrow, if 5 pay back, the protocol breaks even. Classic 'harvesting the untrustworthy'.
Blacklist + opportunity cost: not paying back? Straight up blacklisted.
Take me as an example: I borrowed 50U to participate in the WLFI event, and the profits far exceeded 50U. If I get blacklisted by ListaDAO, participating in future events would be dead in the water—this cost is way more than 50U! So I definitely plan to pay it back (the current limit is small, and running away isn't worth it).
In practice, this logic is reasonable but fragile:
I wouldn’t run with a 50U limit, but what if it was 5000U? You can’t guarantee someone won’t go all in on a meme coin and lose it all, then disappear.
Who would borrow at 390% APY? Unless you're in dire need of cash or trying to arbitrage, most would be turned off just by looking at it.
Possible evolution direction (I think ListaDAO will play it this way in the future):
Risk grading + data accumulation: as on-chain behavioral data grows, the rates for quality users will drop to normal levels (from 390% → 50% → even lower).
Blacklist ecosystem expansion: it's not just ListaDAO, more protocols/events/airdrops are integrating blacklisted addresses to raise the cost of default (like Binance Square considering blacklists too?).
Overall: this is a super promising start!
DeFi has finally moved from 'over-collateralization' to 'on-chain credit', but there’s still a long way to go.
Small-scale testing phase, high fees + blacklisting to ensure the protocol doesn't lose, wait for the data to fatten up before lowering interest rates and increasing volume—this is the real credit revolution 😂.
What do you guys think?
Would you dare to borrow this 50U at such high interest? Or wait until the rates drop to normal before jumping in?
Anyone who’s borrowed before, share your fear of getting blacklisted, haha~
