Warning about new fraudulent schemes through cryptocurrency transactions
Fraudulent schemes through virtual transactions
Recently, various social media platforms related to the locality have seen posts requesting assistance in purchasing various cryptocurrencies with high commission rates, leading many gullible individuals to easily fall into the trap set by these fraudsters.
The fraudsters use fake social media accounts not registered to them to post content requesting help in buying various cryptocurrencies (USDT, Bitcoin, Pi…) with high commission rates (from 10 - 20%). After completing the transaction, transferring cryptocurrency to the fraudsters' accounts, they will use altered transaction images edited through photo editing applications to deceive victims and seize their assets. Additionally, fraudsters often utilize unregulated social media accounts (such as Telegram) to make it difficult to trace them.
One of the other tactics used by these individuals is to identify victims in need of exchanging Vietnamese Dong for USDT. The fraudster will transfer USDT to the victim's e-wallet, take a screenshot of the edited cryptocurrency transfer bill using photo editing applications, and the victim will then transfer Vietnamese Dong to the bank account specified by the fraudster. However, later on, when the victim checks their e-wallet, they realize the amount received does not match the amount on the bills sent by the fraudster, and when the victim tries to contact them, they find that their calls have been blocked.
