Trump and Musk are so interesting. On September 4th, Trump held a family dinner at the newly renovated White House, inviting all the big shots from Silicon Valley. The atmosphere at this dinner was quite oppressive; before the dishes were served, Trump asked each person, 'How much did you contribute? How much did you contribute?' Musk did not attend, as Tesla, at this juncture, announced a $1 trillion compensation plan for Musk and demanded that Musk increase the company's market value from the current $1 trillion to $8.5 trillion. This number is indeed astonishing.
After introducing himself and praising Trump, Trump asked everyone to express their opinions. This was not a dinner; it was clearly a feast on their own flesh and blood. Except for Gates, who had a bit of backbone and said something different, from Apple and Google to Oracle and AMD, they were all being slaughtered while having to keep saying thank you. In their eyes, you are cattle, and in Trump's eyes, they are cattle, the kind that can be slaughtered at any time.
Oh right. Musk did not go. However, Musk has other plans to attract attention. The Tesla (TSLA) board, completely controlled by Musk, is planning to establish a brand new compensation plan for CEO Elon Musk, with a potential value of up to $1 trillion, setting a record in American corporate history. According to the latest documents disclosed by Tesla, this plan lasts for 10 years, and Musk must achieve a series of performance targets to receive all rewards, including pushing for the rollout of autonomous taxi services, and increasing the company's market value from the current approximately $1 trillion to $8.5 trillion.
As this massive compensation plan is announced, Musk's previous 2018 incentive plan worth over $50 billion has been ruled invalid by a court in Delaware, and Tesla is currently appealing. Meanwhile, the board is also considering other forms of compensation, including about $30 billion in stock awards granted in early August. Tesla stated that the new plan aims to ensure that Musk focuses his energy on the company's development, especially in new business areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics. The company also proposed to invest in Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI.
No toast segment? I would like to toast, but old Trump doesn't drink.
