The AI agent ecosystem of BNB Chain (BNB) has expanded to 58 projects across 10 categories, attracting over 200 builders to the hackathon program, even as the broader cryptocurrency market remains under pressure and investment sentiment hovers around multi-year lows.

What happened: Launch of AI agent standards

The network recently deployed two new standards, ERC-8004 and BAP-578, in the BNB Smart Chain mainnet and testnet, aiming to provide cross-platform verifiable and portable identities to autonomous AI agents. This standard is designed to operate with infrastructure that is 'designed for low fees, fast transactions, and frequent agent activity.'

ERC-8004 provides on-chain identity for autonomous agents, and BAP-578 introduces the NFA (Non-Fungible Agent) standard. Through NFA, AI agents can exist as 'on-chain assets that can hold assets, execute logic, interact with protocols, and be traded or employed.'

As of February 17, this ecosystem has acquired 58 AI agent projects across infrastructure, social platforms, DeFi, trading, gaming, and entertainment. Over 200 builders participated in the hackathon 'Good Vibes Only: OpenClaw Edition,' which focused on AI and on-chain integration.

Why it matters: On-chain bullishness persists

According to crypto intelligence firm Messari, the BNB chain closed 2025 as the third-largest network by DeFi total value locked (TVL), with TVL increasing to $6.6 billion, a 23.6% increase year-over-year. Daily average trading volume increased by 30.4% compared to the previous quarter, and the number of daily active addresses grew by 13.3%.

The value of real assets on the network increased to $2 billion during the first quarter, which is a 228.1% increase quarter-over-quarter and a 554.6% surge from the beginning of the year, which started at $3.6 million.

The prediction market within the ecosystem has also reached a milestone, surpassing a cumulative trading volume of $20 billion by the end of January.
