There is a woman in the coin circle who, without a prominent background, has stood out step by step with her courage and ability, becoming a significant figure in the male-dominated crypto world.

That's right, she is He Yi, the co-founder of Binance.

1/ Early Experiences

He Yi (originally named He Ying) was born in 1986 in a rural area of Sichuan, with both parents being teachers. She loved reading from a young age and performed well academically.

During her middle school years, she demonstrated remarkable business acumen and capabilities. At the age of 16, she earned 1000 yuan per month selling drinks part-time, while the average monthly income in China was only about 700 yuan.

In 2012, at the age of 26, He Yi welcomed a new chapter in her career by joining Travel Television, hosting programs such as (Destination America) and (Go as Far as You Can), while also hosting (Beijing Discovery) and (How Beautiful is the World) at Beijing Television. These programs helped her build extensive public recognition and networking resources.

Although she had not yet been involved in the blockchain industry at that time, these experiences laid the groundwork for her subsequent career transition.

2/ Initial Exploration of the Blockchain Industry

In 2014, He Yi made a pivotal career choice by joining the cryptocurrency exchange OKCoin (now known as OKX) as Vice President, responsible for brand building and marketing. By the end of the same year, OKCoin's trading volume surged to the top in the domestic market, with Bitcoin trading accounting for 60% of the market, earning her the title 'Sister of the Coin Circle'.

This decision was not widely understood at the time; however, He Yi seized the opportunity in this emerging industry with her sharp insight and judgment.

During her time at OKCoin, she invited Zhao Changpeng (CZ) from http://Blockchain.info to an event held in Hangzhou, successfully persuading him to join OKCoin as CTO. This collaboration not only propelled OKCoin's development but also sowed the seeds for the future birth of Binance.

In 2015, due to differences in company decisions, CZ left OKCoin, and He Yi also departed by the end of the year.

Due to OKCoin's non-compete agreement, He Yi briefly joined the internet company Yijia Technology as Vice President, responsible for brand promotion. Products under Yijia Technology, such as Xiaokaxiu and Yizhibo, were influential at the time. He Yi fully utilized her public image and industry experience to promote Yizhibo as the preferred platform in the digital currency industry.

Next, her and CZ's shining moment was about to come.

3/ The Rise of Binance and the Ascendant Sister

In 2017, after serving as an advisor for a while, He Yi officially joined Binance, becoming one of its co-founders.

At this time, Binance had just launched, and its token BNB (Binance Coin) performed poorly in the early stages, with prices dropping to $0.15, causing dissatisfaction within the community. However, He Yi's involvement quickly turned the situation around. Within just half a month of her tenure, the price of BNB soared from the lows to $2.57, an 18-fold increase.

In December of the same year, as Binance continued to grow, BNB surged from the $1 low of the 94 incident to $10, a tenfold increase, and Binance became the number one exchange globally. Once again, the Sister made the second exchange rise to the throne.

Her success cannot be separated from hard work and self-breakthrough. She calls herself the 'Chief Customer Service', saying her job is 'to work for the holders of BNB'. Binance has maintained its position as the largest exchange for 8 years to this day, and the Sister has played an indispensable role.
