ASIC bans financial advisor for ten years
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has banned a financial advisor for ten years due to a cryptocurrency scam. In a recent press release, the regulator alleged that Glenda Maree Rogan misappropriated client funds with investments in fraudulent cryptocurrencies.
According to ASIC, Rogan transferred AU$14.8 million (equivalent to about US$9.6 million) of client funds to a cryptocurrency investment scam, The Financial Center. This occurred between March 2022 and June 2023 while she was a financial and accounting advisor for the Fincare group of companies.
She was also an authorized representative of Private Wealth Pty Ltd and deceived clients about the nature and risks of their investments while advising them as a representative of Fincare.
