- In March 2025, the UK surpassed China to become the second largest holder of US government bonds after Japan.
📉 China only holds 765 billion dollars
Down $28 billion from the previous month, mainly due to continued sales of long-term bonds.
- UK jumps to $780 billion. For the first time in more than 20 years, UK surpasses China in US bond holdings.
- Japan is still in the lead. Japan's total holdings of US bonds are $1,130 billion, up for three consecutive months.
- Canada also collects more strongly
March, up $20 billion to $426 billion
📈 Total foreign holdings of US bonds set new record
Globally, US bond holdings are $9.05 trillion, up $233 billion in March.
🌍 No signs of foreign withdrawal from US bonds
Even though Mr. Trump is taxing many countries and calling them profiteers, US bonds are still being bought.
In short:
- China is gradually jumping off the US debt book – leaving the UK to sit… and hold it.
- If Britain and Japan join hands to sell the rest, America will be ruined. But this possibility will not happen =))
