Ripple officially aims to replace SWIFT
Eric van Miltenburg, senior vice president of strategic initiatives at Ripple, made this definitive statement during a panel at the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos:
Ripple offers transaction solutions at lower costs and with the highest speed required by modern banking institutions.
His description of Ripple as an "upgrade or replacement for SWIFT" provoked an immediate reaction from the XRP community and industry analysts. The price prediction for Ripple to replace SWIFT gained more credibility, as van Miltenburg basically confirmed the company's strategy to compete directly with SWIFT rather than complement it in some way.
The potential price of XRP as soon as SWIFT is replaced.
DigitalG, a former London-based fund manager, likely offered the most optimistic estimate of XRP to $15,000 if Ripple manages to replace SWIFT in global settlements. This XRP price prediction for 2025 largely depends on Ripple capturing a significant market share of the more than 11,000 SWIFT financial institutions worldwide.
DigitalG explained:
“The structure of XRP, which allows it to be divided into small units called 'drops', enables it to manage massive volumes.”
The viability of this ambitious price prediction for Ripple replacing SWIFT depends on resolving some current regulatory challenges and improving the scalability of XRP Ledger. Despite these hurdles, interest in XRP has notably increased following van Miltenburg’s recent comments.
