US forms group to respond to Chinese tariffs

Officials in President Trump's administration, anticipating that supply chains will be strained due to high tariffs on Chinese goods, have discussed the formation of a working group to urgently address issues if there is no breakthrough with Beijing, multiple sources told CBS News.

No official information has been released, but the working group may include Vice President J.D. Vance, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Kevin Hassett, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Stephen Miran, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, sources said.

Another official stated that the administration has been addressing supply chain issues for some time in preparation for implementing tariffs.
