Launch of the EVM sidechain Testnet of XRP Ledger by Ripple and partners
A live deployment of an Ethereum-compatible XRP Ledger sidechain testnet has been verified by Peersyst Technology. The XRPL EVM sidechain is powered by RippleX, Axelar Network, and Common Prefix.
Peersyst Technology announced milestone X, stating: “The wait is over... Excited to announce the launch of the XRPL EVM sidechain Testnet! We completed this key milestone in preparation for the Mainnet launch thanks to the teams at RippleX, Axelar, Common Prefix, and Peersyst. Interoperability and programmability for XRP are on the way.”
The team established xrplevm.org to help developers integrate the EVM Testnet into MetaMask. A faucet on the EVM testnet and a Discord faucet allow users to quickly receive tokens. Bridges powered by Squid Router for transfers from the XRPL-EVM sidechain are another feature.
Calling all XRPL EVM sidechain developers, Peersyst announced that projects must be moved from Devnet to Testnet. Move your projects from Devnet to Testnet for production testing. Adding Ethereum smart contracts to XRP
The official literature describes the EVM as an enhanced environment based on Cosmos SDK for Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) smart contracts. The sidechain uses a Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus methodology for low latency and high speed while maintaining the security of XRPL.
The native currency of the sidechain is the bridged token from the main ledger, and Axelar Network transfers assets and messages between the XRPL and other blockchains. The sidechain supports Solidity-based smart contracts, allowing developers to use Ethereum tools such as Remix, Truffle, and MetaMask.
