FGTS: The government's new strategy to solve problems it created itself?
The Ministry of Labor and Employment estimates that new payroll loans for private sector workers, backed by FGTS, will exceed R$ 100 billion in the first three months. The program aims to offer a cheaper credit alternative for workers, allowing them to use up to 10% of their FGTS balance and 100% of the termination fine as collateral.
The expectation is that workers will migrate to this modality to pay off loans with higher interest rates, providing a relief in the budget. The average interest rate for payroll credit in the private sector is significantly lower than other types of credit, such as CDC and overdraft. The program started operating recently, and simulations have already totaled 40.18 million, with 11,032 contracts closed so far.

"Oh, how wonderful! The government has finally found a brilliant way to help workers get rid of debt... by using their own money as collateral! It's almost as if they're saying: 'Hey, are you in debt? Don't worry, we'll lend you your own money at lower interest rates!' Genius, isn't it? And all of this while the banks continue to profit. It seems everyone wins... except, perhaps, the workers themselves. But who cares about those details, right?"
I apologize to the supporters of the government, but it becomes very difficult to support those who actually want to further indebt the people, so that chaos is generated and they can implement the plan we all know.....
