Kazakhstan's law restricting electricity use for crypto mining takes effect

A new law that expands the regulatory framework for cryptocurrency miners while restricting their access to low-cost electricity has come into effect in Kazakhstan. The legislation introduces a mining license system with two different categories of licenses that companies must renew regularly. According to local media reports, the changes are also intended to create conditions for the development of the crypto industry and fair competition among market players.
