According to a new survey of FTX lenders, 79% plan to reinvest their payouts into crypto assets. More than half of them plan to buy Solana. Memecoins and AI tokens are also among the favorites.

However, a deeper look at the survey methodology suggests a strong bias in favor of Solana enthusiasts. While some participants may have a genuine interest in other assets, their preferences may not reflect the general sentiment of all exchange holders.

Optimistic Investors

Since the collapse of FTX in 2022, the consequences have left deep scars on the crypto space. Earlier this month, liquidators announced that creditors would begin to be repaid from February 18. While this generated some bullish hype, market hopes have since faded as investors have begun to act more cautiously.

However, new research shows that exchange victims have not lost interest in the crypto space.

“79% of FTX lenders plan to reinvest their payouts into cryptocurrencies, with an average of 29% of repayment funds allocated for this purpose. 62% intend to purchase Solana. A third of FTX lenders plan to allocate their payouts to meme coins, and 31% of lenders are prioritizing AI-related cryptocurrencies,” the survey results state.

At first glance, this exchange survey seems very optimistic, especially for Solana. When refunds began, exchange lenders showed a strong propensity to secure their funds immediately.

However, if these results are accurate, it would be a boost for several assets. Solana, in particular, has had a tough month and could benefit greatly from new investors.

However, the optimism may not materialize. In its methodology, FTX’s research acknowledged that “there is a possibility of bias.”

Apparently, lenders were only eligible if at least 10% of their portfolio was made up of Solana or if they had held $100 worth of SOL for more than a year. In other words, it seems obvious that eligible participants would have an interest in Solana.

Even if FTX’s research is biased in this regard, its data can still be useful in other ways. For example, memecoins struggled in February, and the AI crypto market isn’t doing much better.

So if some of these Solana enthusiasts spend their refunds on these tokens, it could be a lifeline. However, it doesn’t bode well for the broader group of FTX lenders.
