Important events in ETH in 2023: Achieving full sharding
As a next step, Ethereum will implement the Shanghai upgrade plan in the next few months, which will enable users to withdraw pledged ETH. Subsequently, Ethereum will work on implementing the EIP-4844 (Proto-Danksharding) solution, which is an important step towards achieving complete sharding. While the internal focus on consolidation and Layer 2 within Ethereum has helped fill the scalability gap, the L1 and L2 expansion that sharding is expected to bring is still highly anticipated, and people will pay close attention to developments in this area in 2023 .
