According to Cointelegraph, Microsoft released its first quantum computing chip Majorana 1 on February 19, joining the ranks of companies pursuing this technology. The chip is composed of semiconductors and superconductors, using materials distinct from solids, gases, and liquids.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that this breakthrough will shorten the realization of quantum computers from decades to years. Microsoft's Executive Vice President Jason Zander mentioned that this theory has been validated nearly a century after it was proposed in 1937.

Microsoft's research findings were published on February 19 in the journal (Nature). Quantum chips process information differently from traditional computer chips, as quantum bits can represent both 0 and 1 simultaneously, allowing for faster problem-solving.

Quantum computing may pose a threat to cryptocurrencies. The release of Google's Willow quantum chip in December 2024 has sparked discussions in the crypto community. Advanced quantum computers could crack certain encryption technologies, affecting cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency researcher Ethan Heilman pointed out that the challenge of protecting cryptocurrencies lies in coping with new attacks, faster computers, and better algorithms. Cryptocurrency enthusiasts can protect their tokens through multi-signature wallets, offline storage, and quantum-resistant encryption wallets.
