In response to the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Turkey, Binance will airdrop $100 worth of BNB to all Binance users identified as living in the worst-affected areas.

Users will be identified based on proof of address (POA) completed before February 6 in the 10 cities most affected by the earthquake: Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay.

While the POA method has its limitations and inaccuracies, it is the best method we can use to target potentially affected users. We estimate that total donations will be approximately US$5 million (approximately TL 94 million).

In the aftermath of a natural disaster, people are often unable to access traditional banking services at a time when they need additional funds for medical supplies, food, and other basic needs.

Cryptocurrency transfers are now increasingly being used to provide financial aid to earthquake victims as they offer fast, low-cost, borderless and transparent transactions.

Binance Charity has also launched a public donation address so that everyone can donate. All assets received through this address will be converted into Turkish Lira and given to authorized NGOs to help people in need. Emergency earthquake donations will be accepted in BTC, ETH, BNB, BUSD, XRP.

Binance founder and CEO CZ said: “The recent earthquake in Turkey had a devastating impact on many people and communities, and we hope that our efforts can bring some comfort to those affected. In this time of crisis, We also call on our industry peers to work together to provide assistance."

Our team is doing our part to ensure the safety and health of Binance users and their families in Turkey and providing them with all the help they need. Binance stands with our users during this difficult time, and we will continue to help the Turkish community in other ways.
