The Pi Network is on the cusp of a major transformation with an upcoming open network phase that will allow its blockchain to easily integrate with external databases. This advancement will allow pioneers (users) to conduct transactions outside of the Pi ecosystem, greatly improving real-world applications and utility.

The Pi ecosystem consists of utility-based applications, a crypto-oriented social network, and a blockchain designed for seamless transactions. After the network firewall is lifted, anyone will have the opportunity to manage a node in the main network. However, the core team will prioritize experienced users, inviting them to transfer their nodes from the test network to the main network. The desktop interface of the node will facilitate this transition, favoring individuals with high reliability scores and consistent contributions, while node ratings will be publicly available.

Co-founder and head of technology Nicholas Kokkalis emphasized Pi Network's commitment to accessibility. The platform allows users to mine cryptocurrency for free using mobile devices, making cryptocurrency adoption more inclusive on a global scale. Additionally, the Pi Layer-1 blockchain offers identity verification services for individuals and businesses, promoting safe and verified interactions within and beyond its ecosystem.

Despite its ambitious concept, Pi Network remains a controversial topic in the crypto space. Critics argue that its structure resembles a multi-level marketing model rather than a traditional blockchain project. Due to these concerns, major exchanges are reluctant to list Pi tokens. In particular, Bybit CEO Ben Zhou recently rejected listing requests, citing his Forex trading experience as a reason to stay away from the project. Similarly, crypto journalist Wu Blockchain highlighted skepticism among various exchanges regarding the legitimacy of Pi.
